Biliary ascariasis

The round worm,  Ascaris lumbricoides, commonly infests the intestine of inhabitants of Asia, Africa and Central America. It may enter the biliary tree through the ampulla of Vater and cause biliary pain. Complications include strictures, suppurative cholangitis, liver abscesses and empyema of the gall bladder. In the uncomplicated case, antispasmodics can be given to relax the sphincter of Oddi and the worm will return to the small intestine to be dealt  with by antihelminthic drugs. Operation may be necessary to remove the worm or deal with complications. Worms can be extracted via the ampulla of Vater by ERCP. Extraction of a stone from the common bile duct by the Burhenne technique. (a) A T-tube  in situ  with a stone in the duct. (b) A steerable catheter has been manipulated into the duct and a  basket placed around the stone. (c) The stone being extracted from the bile duct along the T-tube track.

Need For Speed Shift 2 Unleashed Screenshots!

With the release of Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed coming ever closer, EA have released some new screenshots of the cars available to all us petrol-heads out there. With EA claiming to have ‘an impressive selection of the hottest and most elite high-performance vehicles in the world’ as well as more cars than any of its predecessors, just what exactly are they talking about?

With 132 cars to choose from, here’s a small selection for you to drool over until the game is released (29th March in the US and 1st April in Europe).

Install Google Android On Windows, Mac or Linux

If you want to try out Google Android before buying an Android based mobile then you have come to the right place. Google provides an Android along with the Android SDK.
If you are a developer you can test the apps you write using this emulator or if you just want to test an Android phone, you can do that too.
To get the Emulator up and running:

>First, Download Java from here and install it.

>Now you have to download the Android SDK from here. While downloading for windows select the Compressed .zip file, not the “recommended” .exe file.

>Once that download is done, extract the contents of the .zip file. After the extraction, open SDK Setup.exe.

>Now the SDK will get a list of packages available from Google. If there is an error go to Settings and check “Force https://…”.

>Now you will be shown a list of platforms. Unless you want to try all the versions of Android, select only the versions you want to try as each Platform is about 50-75 MB in size. For the others select them then click Reject.

>Now you will be able to see an “Installing Archives” dialog box. Once the download is over click on “Close”.

>Next we set up the Virtual phone. Click on “Virtual devices”, then “New…”.

>Now just select the Skin, SD Card Size& Android Version you want. Now Give a name to your Virtual Device and then click “Create AVD”. When you click this there can be a small time lag till a message comes that the Virtual Device has been created.

>Now select your virtual device from “Virtual devices” and select “Start…”.

>Now a screen with “ANDROID_” will comes with the underscore blinking.

>After which the Android Start Up screen will become visible and then you will reach your home-screen. Thats it. Now you can use your Android Virtual Phone.

With the Emulator you can do many things that you can do with a real Android such as:

• Browse the Internet just as in an Android Mobile.
• Check out the Menus, Widgets, Wallpapers, Settings etc…
• Install free Apps off the Internet.

Sadly with this emulator you will not be able to use the Android Market Place to download Apps.

Hide Friends On Facebook

If you add a lot of people as Friends on Facebook then you might constantly be annoyed with people you don’t really know all that well or interact with, filling your News Feed with their updates and making it hard to see updates by the people you actually interact with. But since you have already added them as Friends, Unfriending them would just hurt their feelings.

There is another option to get rid of this frustration.

>First Install Eternal Sunshine Extension for Google Chrome.

>Now you need to collect the usernames of the people you want to hide. Getting the username is simple. While some people like to set their over unique username which you can find from their profile link, others have their username shown as a number afterhttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id= . This number is what you need to use to hide them. If you want to hide a lot of people I suggest copying all the usernames first into anotepad file, its just easier that way.

>Now that you have the usernames copy each username, click on the eternal sunshine iconnear the address bar. Just paste the username using Ctrl +V then hit Enter.

After hiding a person on Facebook with Eternal Sunshine:

• His/Her Updates will not be shown in News Feed.
• If the person was added as Family earlier, then the Family status will be removed.
• His/Her Photo Album or Photo Page will not be suggested in the Side Bar.
• He/She will be removed from Frequent Friends on Chat List.

Using Eternal Sunshine is a great extension if you have a lot of friends, out of which you do not stay in touch with many of them. It helps ignore the person without Unfriending them.

Make Calls Without Internet with Skype

Skype has just introduced a new service called Skype To Go, that allows Skype users to make call using Skype from any mobile or landline phone, without an Internet connection or any data coverage connections like 3G, Wi-Fi. Below are the details of Skype To Go.

This service works by converting a person contact number into a unique Skype To Go number with a local calling code.

Calling that local number using local code will bill users at Skype’s regular or standard rates, whether paid for using Skype Credit or a part of a subscription. No installation is required, setting up Skype To Go service is free and users can add up to 9 numbers to it.

These nine numbers can be saved to user’s handset, but they have to pay an added associated conection fee of 3.9 cent per call.

Mystery Microsoft Announcement Coming March 15th

Microsoft is not typically like Apple Inc. in that they do not create these mysterious announcements and unveils at a whim. Microsoft tends to make product announcements at trade shows and major tech events like MIX and CES. That’s why it’s especially interesting to hear that one of Microsoft’s PR firms, Howorth, recently sent out a notice to press and tech analysts for a Microsoft announcement on March 15th, from 9-10:30am.

Speculation on what the announcement could be regarding is running high and it’s completely rumor, at this point, as to what it might be. An Internet Explorer announcement is unlikely when you consider that IE9 is set to unveil on March 24th. Xbox seems to be coasting along on its Kinect add-on quite nicely, so probably nothing happening there. Office is not due a major refresh just yet. Windows Phone update information was just recently released. News on Windows 7 is out considering we just received SP1. Windows 8 news is possible, but not probable when you consider how far off we seem to be from a beta preview. Bing’s conversion to HTML5 could be a possible fit, but not likely, since it’s assumed that it will be announced at the IE9 unveil. Tablet news anybody?

Educated guesses pin the announcement for something cloud-related, but keep in mind that this is just anybody’s guess. Heck, it could be nothing special.

I’ll keep my ear to the ground and will be scouring the internet in hopes of finding some more information to pass along. Do any of our readers know of anything in the pipeline or have an educated guesses of their own regarding the mysteries of March 15th?
